CATHERINE DIX

Born in 1970 in Paris, Catherine Dix settled in the Périgord Vert near Brantôme in 2021. Catherine Dix began working around the bottle when she first discovered ceramics in 2012.

She gradually moved away from the primary use of the bottle by making the shapes more complex. Some have become sculptural, the archaic aspect always remaining present. Her ceramics are thought as small architectures, sometimes perched on high legs. A game of construction takes place, in search of the perfect balance.

Her work questions the border between craft and art, between the ancestral object dedicated to a specific function of our daily life and the sculpture. Her inspirations comes from architecture, design and traditional potteries
