DAISY MILLER
Daisy Miller is a painter based in London. She completed her MA at City and Guilds of London Art School in 2025, where her practice developed around questions of memory, landscape and the displaced image. Working through semi-figurative painting, Miller approaches landscape and artefact as fragments caught between presence and disappearance. Her work draws on archival material, photographic records, personal documents, public collections, yet resists direct illustration. Brought into paint, an image no longer belongs wholly to its past or the present; it occupies a threshold, suspended just long enough to be deciphered before meaning shifts again.
Central to her practice is the gap between her own experience and the experience she paints from. Working from other people's memories and inherited images of places she may never have visited, she is interested in what painting can hold , and what it distorts when the distance between maker and source remains intact. She is currently expanding this enquiry into general Scottish archives, testing what happens when that gap begins to close.
Through restraint and careful reduction, Miller constructs quiet, emotionally charged spaces in which memory is neither preserved nor fixed, but continually reconfigured.
