DEANE HODGSON

Having previously created analog collages under the guise of Mr What & Mrs Why, fashion design graduate Deane Hodgson is furthering his exploration of re-purposing materials with an individually handcrafted new collection.

Operating from his studio in the North-East of England, his multi-layered wall sculptures are primarily comprised of discarded off-cuts from CNC machines. The recycled ethos, meanwhile, continues through the likes of disposed-of paint samples and paste tables.

The unique relief compositions that emerge subtly experiment with both light and form, resulting in works rich with depth and pattern.

Bringing to mind the work of such artists as Victor Pasmore and Louise Nevelson, his contemporary geometric pieces evoke anything from the inner workings of industrial machinery to three-dimensional architectural models.
