Jo Waller is a ceramic artist based in East London. With a background in art and design, Jo brings to her practice an innate creative sensibility and a profound visual understanding. Leaving a career formally as a creative art director, Jo turned to ceramics where she discovered a deep and personal connection with clay. She was drawn to the creative freedom and the physicality of the medium where she has found her unique
expression. Through the exploration of hand building, Jo’s approach is fundamentally instinctive; it accumulates emotions and intuition. The slow nature of her practice permits an inner dialog and through the subconscious her one-off pieces reveal themselves. Jo’s breadth of work is unified by her informed sensibilities and her sustained preference for the earthy tones of clay. Her gently tactile pieces intend to inspire an unspoken connection and invite you to feel closer to nature.
