John Goodison

John Goodison studied Fine Art at Leeds University in the late seventies, but in the subsequent decades he made a living from antique dealing, and later antique restoration. Throughout that time he continued to paint and sculpt, selling to private clients, interior designers and dealers, but rarely exhibiting.

In the last decade he has made faded collages, monochrome reliefs, geometric sculptures, and colour field abstract paintings in which pigment has been mixed with gesso. All of which have in common a sense of layering, a nostalgia for Modernism, and a worn, abraded aesthetic.
