JONATHAN OPENSHAW

Jonathan Openshaw is a London-based ceramicist inspired by archaeological ephemera. Having studied archaeology & anthropology at university, he's interested in how ceramics translates across time and place, entangling many levels of meaning, memory, form and function. This series of vessels was inspired by a trip to Pompeii in February 2020 (weeks before the pandemic lockdowns) the memory of which was combined with other inspirations – from post-modern sculpture to brutalist architecture.
