Peter Evans

Peter Evans (b. 1979) is a multidisciplinary artist and songwriter from London based in Brazil. Using found materials, ephemera and inspiration from the everyday, Evans re-purposes the familiar and often overlooked aspects of life to create new abstract forms. Working in collage, book making, photography and more recently painting, Evans’ work remains ambiguous in meaning, allowing the viewer space for new interpretations and thought.

Evans graduated from the MA Fine Art course at Chelsea College of Art in 2016, where he received the Vice Chancellor's Scholarship Award. He has exhibited in shows at Saatchi and Delphian Galleries in London, Mana Contemporary in New York and En Face in Paris. A self-published book Thinking of You, Post cards:1948-2015 was included in the Tate Library & Archive collection in 2017 and in 2019 he was in residence at Palazzo Monti in Brescia, Italy.

In 2019 Evans moved to Brazil, where he lives and works from a ranch just outside of Rio de Janeiro. His current works are a series of bold, vibrant, playful paintings, inspired by the colours seen while traveling in Brazil. With a loose working title of ‘Freedom Abstracts’ they are an exploration into form and colour, all made within a framework of pre-chosen shape placement. Works from this series are in private collections in Seatle Washington, Dubai and London.
